If This Then That

Today saw the public beta release of a new online tool call ifttt (if this then that). Ifttt allows you to automate tasks by linking a variety of social media together or with more traditional digital resources (email, sms, etc.). Jeff and I spent some time playing around with it today and so far it seems to work really well. The interface is super slick and user friendly, which is refreshing - I've always found trying to build automator tasks and the such to be a bit of a pain. I build a few tasks and recipes today linking our instagr.am feed to dropbox and, while it's limited in certain ways, it has the potential of being a valuable and creative way to link different social media together without depending on prefab tools available from Facebook and the like.
